Hi all, I think I am having my first encounter with STN in one of my acros. My urchin keeps ripping it off the rock and dropping it all the way down my rock work and I believe this triggered it. It happened about 4 times and for now I decided to reglue the acro and banish my urchin to the sump until it can encrust. Anyway, here is a photo. As you can see, the right side is turning white.

If it is indeed STN, what can I do to stop it? All of my other acros are doing well, colored up and extended. I don’t think it’s necessary since it is just on one frag but if you all want params I will check them.

Did it fall into another coral?

Any changes to additives? Gfo swap , carbon change , skimmer adjustments ? Lights ?

More than likely it’s just damaged tissue. Did it get put back in the same exact spot as before? Same orientation to Light?

No changes at all. I didn’t put it back in the exact same spot but it’s very close to where it was.

For me the stn happened from the bottom. You may give it sometime to see what will happen

Tips are alk burn usually. Bottoms are usually a big swing in phosphates. I say let it ride . It’ll sort itself one way or the other. If you start chasing things the other coral will suffer imo

Not the tips and none of my other acros or SPS are looking off, I’m actually seeing some of the best extension I’ve ever had the past few days, just that one mini-colony getting banged up. Happy to say he didn’t knock it over today though, so maybe the extra glue was worth it.
