Can anyone show some light on what might be happening to this colony. It appears happened overnight.

Need more info on your parameters and what kind of fish.
But if this is happing overnight we most likely talking about a large swing if some sort on your parameters.

Looks weird to be honest,
What fish do you have? Any angels, file fish, butterfly’s ???
If not fish I’d be looking for a crab

My parameters are good no aggressive fish in the tank. All other corals are good.

It’s just that damage like that is strange,it’s in a random spot on the coral and “to me” looks like it’s being picked at.
Any Crab’s in the system??

Carbon was changed during the last water change, not running gfo for two weeks now.

I was just thinking you may have had your levels swing too much and kicked off the RTN

RTN is generally caused by a sharp swing in water chemistry....ie KH,PO4 ect
This stresses the coral and causes the rtn it also can sometimes be bacterial

Usually a parameter swing will start it. Could be anything really that shocks the coral. Seems to work like an infection.. a very healthy coral may be okay during the swing while a weaker one may become too weak, enough to cause RTN. In any case, it can happen rapidly. An entire colony gone in hours. So, I always frag some right away just to be safe.

Thanks for the help. The rest of the tank seem to be happy!

Looking at your FTS I assume that they are good at the time you did your test.
And it’s just one colony right?
Do yourself a favor before you frag it up dip the colony in a bayer mix to check for pest.
