After having success with other SPS, the time has come to dip my toes into the acro waters to put my husbandry skills to the test.

I got this from my LFS yesterday under a generic name “purple tabling acro” pretty cheap - $30 for this chunk. I’ve looked on many different sites but can’t seem to find a match.

I’m not concerned at all about a fancy designer name (pretty sick of that trend honestly), I’m more so wanting to learn what species this is, in order to better care for it long term.

Teal/purple base with tan/brown polyps

Let me know what you think

$30 is a good deal .
honestly ... there are so many that I’ve bought labeled “ acro frag “
Wysiwyg acro
I’ve asked many of the same questions with no straight species identification

looks good ...

ive been browsing through this article for months trying to find specific species more just to know if different frags are tenius , tort , or what they are

Always been under the mindset that I buy corals for how I enjoy their look, if they have a name so be it, if not also fine... If it’s sold no-name just enjoy the coral as is IMO :) OR make a name, since that’s all these retailers are doing anyway lol.

First thoughts would be Acropora anthocercis based on the pictures descriptions on the blog and reefbuilders

If this is what I have... this will be real test of my reefkeeping skills

I agree AJ! Like I said though I don’t care about a name, just trying to pinpoint the species (tort, tenius, etc)...

I’ll check out that article - thanks @Rmckoy
Exactly what I have been trying .
are most of the acro frags I’ve bought tenius ?
I bought a huge tabling acro colony for $100
It’s grown , has nice PE but no idea what it is .
I’ve posted many acro ID posts about 1 particular frag . The colours are purple polyps and greenish tips .
