What do you think of this piece

Very pretty! I have a small frag of that stuff, but it looks more pink than green in my tank during the day. Mine has been growing very slow compared to other corals I have.

I believe they are deepwater, so no more of a medium lighting.

No thats not always true just cuz there is a slang name 'deep water' it does not mean that it came from a deep reef in the ocean. All that deep water is doing is classifying is that it has smooth skin....

What lighting do you use for your "deepwater"? I have a Solomon Island deepwater that I bought with blue on the coralites but it has "browned out" under 10K 400W MH.

My frag is about halfway up the tank and is under MH's. It seems to keep it's true neon green color on top where it's getting more light and it's more pink in shaded areas.

I started it low but it didnt look good so i moved it up top. It is right under a 400 watt 14k single ended halide.

I just lost my little bit larger than a baseball size one in a tank crack...tank switchout

I lost about ten frags when all said and done...only a couple that really bothered me............and that one :(

and as already said in not so many words....the term deepwater is a hugely misused and misinterpreted descriptor

Good point, and aquacultured specimens are going to acclimated to the normal lighting other acro's are.

Back on topic though, the caroliniana from the OP is definitely a very pretty piece

My caroliniana is brown and always has been, regardless of where I put it. I sold a piece to a guy in Nashville a while back who has them under 400W and he said his turned completely purple... I have a frag that has started to put on purple tips, but that's about it...

I bought was was labeled a "Solomon Island Deepwater" a few weeks ago. It is not smooth skinned.
