Acropora Random Sliming??

Guys,
Was just curious why does this happen and is it common?? My Strawberry ShortCake here seems to slime randomly. Are these feeder tentacles catching food??

No, that is slime. This is usually a sign of stress. Are your parameters stable and in good ranges? It can also shed the slime when gunk gets all stuck to it.

My parameters are all perfect.... All other acros are happy and healthy...

So as the article says, it could be multiple things. I noticed that the rock is white. Is the tank/rock mature? If it's a young tank, the parameters can be in range but can be fluctuating a lot. Fluctuations are obviously not good when keeping SPS. If you have a mature tank then it's likely a feeding or growing response.

Hi,
That piece of live rock was taken form my sump, where no coraline would be present. All my others rocks are covered with coraline. My tank is 14 months old.
I DoS calcium and alk 24 hours a day via an apex dos. As well as do continuous water changes same way.
My alk is monitored by a KH Guardian. My alk has steady at 8.2 for last 2 months plus. Calcium 440, phosphates are .05 , Nitrates are like 3.

I would not sweat it if everything else is fine.

Is that wild piece, or did you grow it in there? I cannot really tell if it was grown-to-fit or just placed. If it is wild, or from another tank, it might just not be used to the flow and stuff compared to what it was getting.

This piece is a wild aussi so I was told. Was at dealer for 2 months. Looked like this when I picked up:
I have never really seen the greens at base in my tank

I know this is an older post but I have the same problem I think there might be a coralation with the salt I use did you ever figure out what was bothering yours?
