I've never quite seen this before but Acroporas can get some unique colors under LEDs. This is a "blue" tenuis which I believe came from LA and the lower polyps have started to take on a bit of a red color. I'm liking how this one is turning out :-)

That's a stunner for sure, have you just noticed the red? Changed light intensity?

Superman Tenius, I wouldn't mind a frag of that if you ever decide it needs a "trim".

I've noticed some polyp color change but it is not as apparent when viewed "from the front". It has probably been changing gradually and I've just now taken notice. I did turn the lights down for about 3 days recently (100% blues, 0% whites) to combat cyano but that's about it. Lots of branches on the colony but they're rather short and tightly packed so fragging is still probably a month or two away.

Give it more time and it will probably develop even more insane.

This is why I love maricultured and wild pieces. You never know which one will turn into a gem.

Nice, Dave! Heck, put me in line for one of each of your acros! :-)

One of the vendors I deal with, sells wild brown acropora in bulk lots pretty cheap. I have been seriously considering getting a lot of them and dropping them into a dedicated frag tank to see what comes out of them.

Just be selective on species. I would hate to see you end up with a bunch of tricolor valida and purple bonsai

Agree with Pete, make sure they allow you to pick the species (I know you can from Bali, for example). If you know that I can help optimize your odds of getting some stellar Acros!
