Acropora vs Gorgonian

So for those curious, in a battle of Photosynthetic Gorgonian vs Acropora, the gorgonian wins. Wife noticed one of the gorgonian branches stuck on one of our Acropora frags this morning and promptly removed it. Flesh was missing on the acro where the gorgonian had made contact. By this evening, the Acropora frag completely RTN'd, and the gorgonian seems no worse for wear. First photo was at 11 AM, second photo at 8:30 PM

Wow. I’ve had Grube’s close to acros before and never had this happen. Apparently I dodged a bullet. Sorry for your loss.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed. The Acro was growing so well. And the Gorgonian looks so good in that spot and hasn't had any issue like this for over a month since I put it there. I'm thinking I'll either move it to the LPS tank we are putting up, or put a Euphyllia where the acro was.

This particular gorgonian is Pseudopterogorgia bipinnata

I did too. His gorgonian is a plume from the pic found in the Atlantic. Grubes is a photo from the pacific. Idk if geography and species determines how much chemical nastiness they have.
