So I’m really confused here and was hoping for some smarter people then me to chime in?
Tank has been up and running for about 6 months. Ever since the initial cycle I’ve never had any algae in the tank whatso ever. I’ve also never had any detectable nitrate or phosphate no matter how much I increased feeding.
I have sps that’s been growing but coloring was kinda dull and I read that long term nil phosphate and nitrate was bad. I bought acropower and started dosing the tank. After about a week I tested my phosphates and nitrates and they are both pretty high now. 0.5 phosphate and 10-25 nitrates. A week into acropower and two of my acro rtn overnight.
Water changes have not decreased them at all.
I bought gfo and after using two tablespoons my phosphates are 0.25.
Despite all my elevated nutrients I still cannot grow algea at all. I don’t get it.
My questions.
Since my phosphates were so high should I just toss the gfo or will it continue to absorb them. My understanding is that it gets used up pretty quickly at those high.
Acropower? Is this the cause of the elevated nutrients. I didn’t do anything else and the tank is a 34 gallon with only two clownfish and a cleaner shrimp.
I’m thinking of started no pox. Thoughts?
