Has anybody used acropower and got good results. I've been using acropower for a week now. I use about 5ml a day in my 32 gallon biocube that's sps dominant with some zoas. I havent really noticed any change yet with color or growth. Usually how long does it tank to start noticing any change.

Ive used it for 3 years or more (which reminds me-im out). You know, cant say say if it is beneficial as I use other supplements. That raises a good question, however my SPS are doing good.

Acropower dosage for your reef is 5ml/week? You are dosing 35ml/week? You may run into issues!!
Cheers! Mark

Any update on acropower?

I dose 5ml once a day in my 105 (130 total volume) and have not noticed any difference whatsoever.....but for some reason I keep buying it and keep dosing it :)

I've used it for a couple years. When I occasionally run out, I cannot say I notice any difference. But I am a general fan of J Sprung so I keep buying it.

I will say though, if you are low nutrient and skirting with dinoflagellates (ostreopsis at least) STOP dosing it. I have ample evidence that it grows Dinos very very well.

It’s been 2 weeks for me, 3ml daily for a total 150 volume mixed reef. Not seeing anything special yet.

For me dosing 2mL per day to a 75g cube I have noticed much better polyp extension on my montipora's. I also have a frag acro that was on its last leg when I got it and the color of the live tissue has become deep and rich since trying to save it. Not sure how much the acropower has helped the acro frag but from what I have seen on my other SPS I like the stuff. I havent seen polyp extension on my monti like this hardly ever.

For what's its worth, in my semi-informed opinion, dosing Acropower, and similar products, is like dosing anything else in that sense that, if your tank has an existing deficiency that it will address, it may help. However, if your growth/color is not is limited by a lack of amino acids (or their building blocks), you likely won't notice any significant improvement in coral health or coloration by dosing them. I kind of think of aminos as 'easy to use nutrients' for the corals (and potentially other less desirable stuff). In a heavily stocked and fed system, you might not notice anything beyond a greater propensity for bad things to grow (algae, dinos, cyano). In a lightly stocked/fed system, at or bordering on an ULNS type system, the corals might really appreciate the aminos since they're bordering on starvation. I'm sure there are others with much better informed opinions however.

I've used Acropower and Brightwell's amino product. My main tank had a bad case of Brook, wiping out most fish, with the survivors being taken out for treatment, essentially going from heavy stocking/feeding to no stocking with very limited feeding. My corals got paler and my alk and calc consumption slowed, telling me growth was slowing. I started adding aminos and color got better and alk and calc consumption started to rebound. Since then, I've added back fish and now have a semi-heavy fish/food load. At this point, I'm not really convinced dosing aminos is doing much for me, although I continue to do it sporadically at a reduced rate. I have some cyano and some algae, both of which seem to be improving with time. i also dose carbon, perhaps unnecessarily complicating the picture.

Big picture, reef (and planted tank) keeping is about taking a box of water, adding light and nutrients, and getting the things you want to grow to thrive while limited the growth of the unwanted things like algae that also appreciate the light/nutrients.
