Hi friend's

I need your advice to understand why various of my acro's turn white. Not is RTN or STN.

They have only bleached and I do not know why. I have not varied feed, nor light, nor movement, stable parameters in:

Kh: 9 dkh
Ca: 470
Mg: 1400
No3: 12ppm
Po4: 0.03

The acro are fraq:

Green Bali
Green Mille
Bonsai

Thanks

Hi I see what you mean....but overall they look pretty good

I know you probably don’t want to hear this but have you checked for flat worm by dipping the corals....although there doesn’t appear to be any bite marks sometimes corals lose colour when infected

Also have you changed carbon or anything recently or anything to enhance the clarity of your water??

Removing the fraqs would be difficult because they are already attached to the rocks.

The last fraq that I introduced to my aquarium was to do about 2 months and I never entered a fraq without first doing a DIP on Revive, none of the fraqs has released flatworms, red bugs or black bugs.

The change in corals began to notice about 22 days ago, only the bali green died a small part of the base, the others have only lost color.

Almost 2 months ago or a little less put carbon in a filter and so far I have not changed it, it is still the same carbon.

Yes,I did see that they were nicely encrusted on to the rock work...
You could try blasting them with a power head or baster to see if anything comes off

That’s great protocol, but sometimes they make it past there almost microscopic when newly hatched

Your nutrients look good so I don’t think that’s going to be a problem....could it be worth retesting with different kits???

Was just trying to determine if a quick change in water quality was to blame....increasing PUR and causing coral to bleach slightly

Do you dose iodine? If not maybe go steady with a couple drops a week and see if there is any improvement but go slow

Ready, I tried a wavemaker for 3 minutes straight to the acros but nothing was seen to come out.

When I put the charcoal it was because it had a little yellow water. To the days it was already crystalline. That would have something to do, change or remove the carbon?

I’ve been having a similar problem with a few acros. No changes in parameters, light, or flow. I just took my carbon reactor offline when I noticed mine whitening. The carbon was probably 6-8 weeks old. I’ve been wondering if once the carbon is “old” and exhausted if it can release something back into the water?

I really do not know if it releases the extracted water again, but at least in my case I think it's the only different thing I've done, but the coal was almost 8 weeks old and the problem of the acros began about 4 weeks ago .

My guess is it was the carbon, usually takes a couple of weeks for bad changes to show up in SPS, usually delayed thats why we go slow with everything we do and then go slower haha. just remove the carbon and see if you see an improvement in a couple weeks. N and P could be bottoming out too and they could just use some food.

Ok, thanks. I remove the carbon now.
