Acrylic cover over my light on or off?

I just recently recieved my t5 light in the mail today and i was wondering if the acrylic protective glass piece should be off if im trying to grow coral or is it okay to leave it on there. Please comment thanks guys

leave it on those bulb end caps are not made to he exposed to water and can cause a lot of problem if they are so leave on
 
Okay thank you. Thats what i thought anyways i wasnt sure though. So the corals will grow just fine under it then?
 
Yes they'll grow fine, just keep it as clean as possible. Water spots, salt creep, etc. will hinder light penetration through acrylic shield.
 
Okay yeah im a clean freak i try to get every little piece of dry salt off so i will definitely be doing that.. 1 more question it seems like the light is really really bright is there such this as too much light for fish and corals?
