I used the BRS screen and frame from H.D. because it is white and you can hardly see it. I also glued tabs on it so it sits inside the rim. I built my stand high so I'm not looking down at the water which helps.

This is mine when I first completed building it. The rough edges have since been polished to a shine.

As mentioned, perfect at first, but over time, the corners bowed upwards. The OP's frame may keep it's shape (I'm hoping). I may add 1/8" strips along the length's and then use Velcro to hold the corners down.

I'll post pics of how it looks now later today.

Sorry for the delayed response. Here's the images. Last image is of the cover for my external overflow box. I made that cover so that the rushing/splashing water would not be going everywhere (which it doesn't), but the same thing happened, it warped at both ends.

You do realize that was one persons experience and not everyone's right. The OP doesnt seem to have that issue. You can build it stronger to not have that problem.

I used some fiberglass composite material at work for some gauges once that would seem to be a good alternative for the framing. I will have to look for it.

black netting would look better. The white netting disperses the light so you have that shine on the net. Black wouldn't allow the light to reflect like that.

I made one last night. Looks weren't a priority. The top of my canopy is about 7 ft tall. Used light diffuser"egg crate". Cut to fit. It has 2 solid oak pieces but they're heavy and I like the extra air.

I know you could special order it in black. Could that be an option for you?

Valgea, The issue with egg crate is it only allows light to pass straight down, so you will loose some spread. This is not an issue if you have lights high over your tank, but in my case my light are 3" up so I lost a lot of light and have to remove that egg create. I ended up not having any issues with fish jumping, so I have not added a screen back.
