New to hobby and wondering if i should get custom acrylic tank or starfire tank? 60 gallons start off. I like the way acrylic looks but too afraid it scratches unlike starfire glass.

60 gallons is pretty small to be getting something custom. I'd wait and see how you do with an off the shelf size tank (glass) and when you are ready to upgrade, take a look at starfire then. IMO anything 240 gallons or under should be glass.

I'm a glass person. Although glass can scratch as well (I can show you some nice ones in my tank) acrylic scratches if you look at it funny. I also don't like the crazing that seems to eventually be inevitable with acrylic.

Go with glass and let the budget dictate regular of starphire.

I moved from acrylic to Starphire glass. I would never go back to acrylic unless it was a huge tank. Its very unforgiving. Removing coralline algae was very difficult without using a razor. Any coral or rock that touched the sides left a mark.
