Not sure if it was on here or not, but there was a sale thread for some acrylic rods glued to acrylic bases for live rock scaping. If anyone can help me locate the thread or someone that makes these, let me know please. Thanks in advance.

Dudes, just find your local plastic supply and make your own.
I did this a few weeks back. Bought a drill bit, cutter knife, a sheet, rod and weldon 16 and have made all sorts of cool stuff. Its easy to work with if you have the right tools too.

yeah you could easily make your own. i ended up using fiberglass rods from lowes/homedepot. they are actually like driveway markers with a reflector on the end. anyways they turned out great and are more stable than the acrylic. so just a thought...

is fiberglass okay for reef tanks?

and you guys are right i could just make my own.

not trying to hijack... what if you want an arc in it? possible?.. not a complete bridge but an arc

Cement and rods its easy, you will need to drill also.

go to your local acrylic shop and ask for the rods there....they come a bunch of sizes.

Sure you can bend them a bit but not a ton. There kinda fragile. I'ld say you could flex them some. The did have a heater at the supply store that looked like you wrap the acrylic to bend stuff. kinda like what Ive seen done to PVC.

I had made a few of them out of acrylic circles, and 1/2" acrylic rod. I used them to hold about 200 lbs of Pukani base rock.

I purchased the discs and the rods on Ebay. The acrylic rods that I used I believe were extruded, and had a tendancy to break right at the base if to much side force was applied to them. I had to re drill and solvent weld them several times.

If you need to bend them, simply use a heat gun and apply a little pressure. Rather than cutting the rods at the tops of the structure, I started to just heat the rods and twist them until they separated. Now that the are in the tank and locked together they are very stable.

I wonder if you couldn't just cut up the plastic coat hangers from WalMart?

I order some acrylic rods from tapplastics.com

I am kinda confuse what is the drill bit use for? Do you tap and hole and put a screw in to hold the rod to the platform? Would the screw get rusted?

THis is what I used, well what I am going to use. I have already ordered the rods. I have not started the aquascaping yet.
