I picked up a used acrylic frag tank. It has either really caked on salt buildup or possible just bleached coraline with how difficult it has been to remove. I’ve been trying vinegar soaked paper towels but it doesn’t seem to be doing a ton of good. I’m worried about scratching up the tank by scrubbing too much. Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Soak in vinegar and something like an old credit card or gift card to scrape with worked well for me.

Have you tried a magic eraser after soaking the tank in a strong vinegar bath?

Definitely, a good long vinegar soak is your best bet for getting the coralline off without scratching
up the tank, that’s been my experience at least.

One quick thing to add, you mentioned vinegar soaked paper towels - seems like a good idea but in my experience this will never work. A long soak and the stuff comes off extremely easily. Briefly touching it with vinegar and you’re in for a lot of scrubbing and pressure that’s pretty sure to leave your tank scratched up.

Ok cool yeah that seems that the vinegar is just evaporating too quickly to actually start dissolving anything. Up to this point I’ve only been spraying and letting it sit. I’ll fill it with a strong vinegar and water mix and let it sit for a few days. Thanks everyone for their suggestions so far!
