I just purchased a used acrylic tank, that is in very good shape. I want to clean/polish it very well. So much differing opinions/directions online, I was wondering if anyone has first hand experience Nd can recommend a product to use.

Thanks!

Agree on novus. I have the kit as I have 2 acrylic tanks and it takes a bit of elbow grease but it does work. I love also Kent acrylic/glass cleaner which gives the outside A smooth, water repellant surface

What sort of scratches do you have? How deep, how many, where?
THis will help me tell you how to best remove them

No real scratches of any significance. Looking more to polish and clean it the best I can before I fill it up and start cycle

Then first try the final polish/cleaner.
Novis 1 Cleaner/Polish is one of those products.
It should have no abrasives what ever brand you choose.
# 2 and #3 will haze your tank so dont use them.
Be sure to use a damp very soft cloth. If the tank is big then an orbital buffer with a very soft pad/cover will be needed. Be sure to keep it damp and clean. Micro fiber will hold/trap dirt so I would stay away from those covers unless you just want to toss after use.
Be sure to try your polish on the bottom where it wont show before doing the front of your tank.
Your tank will look like new.

This was incredibly helpful. Thank you.

It’s 72x24x24.

Would the pictures below work? I don’t want to spend a ton on the buffer as I’m not sure I’d use it again

I think that is orbital and will work just fine
However if you do it by hand you will build strong arms
