I recently built a tank Stand and stained it and put Clear coat over the top of it Can I just place my tank on top of the stain and clear coat or will it ruin my tank

To be safe, I would treat the stand first, Then place tank on it once dry

I recommend poly urathane finish to prevent water damage to the wood. As long as the top is flat and level and completely supports the tank you can just place the tank and go.

This is an acrylic tank not glass can I still place it on top of the polyurethane
Is it water based or oil based polyurethane? You will need oil based polyurethane for this case to protect you from water damage.

As long as it is dry completely it is fine. Either water or oil based poly protects from water damage(though neither are waterproof). The only significant difference between oil and water based is the "look" that it gives the wood (and the smell). Oil based poly does have slightly more solids included so you may need 5 coats to give same protection as 4 coats of oil based.

Except just about every acrylic tank requires a foam layer between the tank bottom and the top of the stand.
