Actinics for Bryopsis Algae?

I have literally tried everything to get rid of bryopsis from one of my tanks including Ultra Algae X, Kent Magnesium, Kalkwasser, Lettuce Nudis, Pulling, etc. etc. I'm wondering if anyone has some method of getting rid of the devil that I haven't tried??

Kent Tech-M is what I used. I had my mag around 2000 for several weeks.

I never tested my Mg levels but I bought a jumbo jug from Marine Depot and was pouring the stuff in like top-off water. At one point it looked a little faded but I never actually got rid of the stuff. It's depressing because it is actually a pretty tank.

Flricordia once posted that if you keep the tank only under actinics for some time that the bryopsis will die, anyone ever tried this?

we used a scopas tang mowed it right down!!!!

You can also try shutting down all the pumps. And use a syringe filled w/ Tech M and squirt the spots really well. Let it sit for 30 mins and turn all the pumps back on. Thats what I did to get rid of a few spots I had to pop up. Worked well too. Just be sure to move any corals away from that area while you appy the Tech M.

9 times out of 10 raising the mag will do the trick. other than the mag i have not heard of many success stories.

My Salifert test kit only goes to 1500

Unfortunately, I didn't test the Mg level which is probably why it didn't die. I don't see how I couldn't have reached 1500-2000 ppm when I was putting the stuff in like crazy. Unfortunately where it's growing there's coral so putting Tech-M directly on it isn't an option.

First of all, if you want to get rid of it you have to do it right. pouring it in like tap water is not the way to go. Your probably going to kill everything anyway. Get a test kit. how can you not have one in the first place. Second after you find out wheres it's at, raise it slowly. dose the kent mag daily until you reach around 1800 and maintain it at that much for a few weeks, it's the only thing i've seen that works

I used the Red Sea kit. Also like Dace said I raised it slowly over the course of like a week or so. The only thing that it seemed to bother were the snails. The ones in my tank became lethargic but did not die, but when I put a couple new snails in it was a shock to their system and they died within a day.

I started out dosing it slowly for about two weeks. I never did a water change so as not to bring down the mag levels but yeah towards the end I was putting in ALOT of the product. I never lost anything but a few snails, no coral, but definately no bryopsis. I need one of those red sea kits that goes up to 2000 ppm. The reason I didn't buy a kit is because I looked at the Salifert kit after seeing a posting that the levels should be 2000 ppm and the kit only goes up to 1500 ppm, so why buy it? I didn't know about the Red Sea.

I had a nitemare with the stuff too. i raised my mag to 1900 for two weeks and added a media reactor with rowaphos and have a magnificent rabbit fish that eats the little left over bryopsis not alot but he eats it. but the rowaphos made a huge diff. what is your phostates at, bryopsis will thrive with phosphates lower than zero so you need a presion test kit.

That's one of the confusing aspects of my ordeal with Bryopsis I don't have high phosphates. I run a skimmer, use phosphate mat and sponge in a power filter, and do 25% water changes a week!
