Activated Carbon

Hi everyone.

I have been using BRS Rox 0.8 carbon on my tank since the start. It has always worked well, rinses clean with no issues.

I was looking around at different brands and came across this on Amazon:


What are your thoughts on this vs BRS? A gallon is only $27 where you get 1/4 gallon from BRS for $20.

While I'm not opposed to other forms of carbon, I do like how quickly the Rox cleans with its minimal dust.

It's a different product altogether. Much coarser and likely less efficient. Will it work? Absolutely, you'll just have to use more of it.

For my own tanks, I mix ROX 0.8 with Red Sea Reef Spec. Both very clean carbons but the Reef Spec is a little less aggressive so I don't have to worry about stripping my tank too fast.
