I'm looking for an active goby or goby like fish that will get about 4 or 5 inches. I have a 55 gallon glass top, and a sandbed that's 4.5 inches at it's deepest spot. Only fish in there right now is a pair of young clowns.
Any ideas? There's just so many kinds.

Tail-spot blennies are super active, spend most of their time swimming instead of perching on a rock. They're a bit on the smaller side though

I just realized you asked about gobies and my first suggestion was a blenny ;Facepalm I only have experience with clown gobies, and they're a bit small and just like to hang out on rocks/corals

I think you would be lucky to get an active goby, I’ve had many of them and they mostly just stick to their spots. I agree blennies are much more active by comparison.
