Active Swimmers VS Hiders

Is there a list of saltwater fish we collect...with a chart or ratings system on how much a fish species is actively out swimming most times VS hiding most of the time?

Nothing worse than buying a new fish and then DISCOVER they hide 90% of the time.

There should be a rating system btwn 1 to 10. 1 meaning they HIDE most if not all the time. 10 meaning they are out almost all the time when lights are on.

Frustrating!!!

That would be a great system! Usually research brings it up tbh but sometimes it's not a big feature of the care

Good discussion. Though by species there may be some high percentage one way or another; I think the specific fish makes a difference too.

I noticed lions and puffers stayed in the open most of the time. Little fish (slender bodies) tend to hide more often.

But I also had a Niger trigger that never came out (besides to eat). I saw many Niger Triggers in stores that stayed in the open, but the one I got never settled in (sold eventually with tank he was in).
