Looking to get another active swimmer. I have 10g with a firefish and cleaner shrimp. The firefish constantly hides and I want something in the water column. I have been thinking of royal gramma, neon goby, or sapphire damsel - but some research shows that all 3 of these hide a bit. I will be upgrading my tank when the fish outgrow it. Any good ideas or any of y'all have experience with these 3 fish that don't hide much?

Not much of a selection for a 10g tank though you could look at the smaller Flasher/Fairy wrasses.

what about a 25g? this will be the tank i'm buying soon and stocking~

Look in the nano section of Liveaquaria.com

Some pretty awesome microscopic blennies and gobies that have awesome personalities and 'bop' around the tank a lot.

We have a 75 they would get lost in. But they are always intriguing at the LFS and I have been thinking of doing a small tank just so I could enjoy watching them.
1" fish jumping around barnacle clusters can be more eye catching than I would have thought.

Fish that are appropriate for a 10g are going to be pretty small, and pretty small fish aren't the most outgoing, because in the wild they are pretty low on the food chain.

Fairy and flasher wrasses are too active for 10 and 25g aquariums. Wetmorella and pink streak wrasses would work, but they are more cautious wrasse species.

With the 25 gallon clownfish will be your best bet as they are highly visible. As mentioned above possum or pink streaked wrasses could work as well. Royal Gramma is too active for a 10 gallon but might work in a 25 gallon.
