I have a 48 x 32x 24 mix reef transitioning into sticks. I have to grye pump on each side of the tank and wondering if I added a mp40 to the back glass would this be to much flow. the gryes are installed vertically moving water in a left to right circle.

You can adjust the flow on a MP40 quite considerably. I also like to put NemProtect covers on mine, which reduces flow a bit. I'd rather have my gyres on my side glass like you but instead due to aquascape they are on my back glass (which makes them MUCH harder for me to maintain/remove). I use MP40s on either end of my 180g but I'm replacing my 12+ year old MP40s with new QDMP40s and one of the old MP40s will go on the back glass of my 60 gallon.
