I have the Current Orbit Marine 48”-60” on my 75g mixed reef tank. I’d like to increase Par in the upper and mid region of the tank. Under the moonlight settings it looks a lot like what I see at the LFS, maybe not quite as blue.

Frogspawn doing well, stylocenia ? On bottom doing well, stylophora at top seems ok but only had it about a month so no real growth. Condy anemone creeping around the back in the rocks for about 2 months now. Acan on the bottom looks great 1 day and odd the next, then great again so I don’t think that’s about lighting.

I’m under strict directives from my better half not to get a lighting system that is suspended above the tank. This low profile is really all that I can do.

Would adding the IC as a second light on this controller do well?

i’m Considering changing out entirely to the Current Orbit Marine Pro or Dual IC Pro system altogether since I can’t seem to find any other low profile options But this second light would be cheaper if it would work.

Anyone know of another alternative that won’t be suspended above the tank?

Anything is helpful. Thanks!

Im going to be completely honest with you..

Just invest in a better light

Thanks! I’m completely open to a better light. Do you know of one that sits close on the tank like this one and isn’t suspended inches above?

Its ok if its suspended, perfectly fine. Whats your budget?

That‘s the catch, I’m happily married and wanna stay that way. I’m under strict orders to leave the glass lids in place on the aquarium and so far haven’t been able to negotiate lights that sit suspended above it.

budget Is negotiable if I can find something that the household agrees is ”attractI’ve” enough. Right now the aquarium is loved by all lol Which keeps the budget negotiable

I mean.. radions and kessils with the mount and modern and sleek.

Glass lid Isn’t going to work well in the long run

I run the IC pro on my IM 30L its just two of the reef led lights. They work for me (nems,LPS,softies) though I wouldn't try SPS in this tank or under these lights. I too like the low profile, and its a big part of why I made this tank full of lower light corals.

In the grand scheme of things current orbit marine lights aren’t good lights.

What’s wrong with the glass lid?

i dont have much evaporation, no buildup on the surface; I keep it agitated with flow bar. Temp stays consisten and minimal salt creep. I do regularly wipe it down though but it is t crusted or nasty.

Glass lids block the light penetration by as much as 30%. Mesh net top is ideal.

As far as lights go. Radions with mounts look clean!!!

It’s hysterical how poorly people listen to the premise of the question.

“The only option I am interested in is one that sits on my glass tops. Will this idea work better than what I have now?”

“Yeah, about that...you should get rid of the glass tops and get lights you mount higher with mounting brackets instead.”
