just a quick one is it all right to add may be 5 lbs of new substrate? every thing is very good in my reef right now and i don't want it to go south. the reef is in need of some new.I have a small bag and wanted to add it should i rinse it in RODI first what you guy's and gal's think ???

It depends on what type of sand you are using. I have added sand in the past (5-10 lbs at a time). However, it was CaribSea and was safe to put right into the tank without rinsing. The package should tell you. I don't see why it would be a problem. If it's dry, I would rinse it. If it's wet sand, you should be good to add it with no issues. You may want to place a filter sock on your drainage pipes just to help collect the residue. I find it easier to fill up a measuring cup, slowly sink it under the water, then pour it onto the bottom as close as you can.

thank's soccerbag just wanted to check with my reefer friend's.it premium aragonite reef sand . and i will rinse it well thank you.
