I added 2 Tomato clownfish to help my new tank.
Prior to adding them (and still now) the ammonia was reading 0.

Got the 2 last night -
One fish is hanging in and around the live rock while th other one is on top- swimming around and hanging around in the corner ; sort of where the power head flow hits the glass.

I got scared that the ammonia was high. But I tested it now and it’s srill dang near 0. (Not at .25)
Look at the photo I took.

Anyway- should I be worried ? Granted these 2 fish are my first 2. And I know it’s a new tank and all.

If you are cycling your tank with two clowns I recommend you take them back to the fish store and throw in a piece if shrimp from the market. There are other ways to cycle your tank as well. Those clowns will most likely die or become very stressed otherwise.

New guy here. Started my first tank at Christmas. I used pure amonia and worked wonders. Still a couple weeks out from parameters leveling off. I wanted fish too. My approach. I have a qt tank ready for fish and then started with buying 2 clowns and they are on tank 3ol of ttm before going into qt for another 4 weeks. By that time my dt will have stabalized and then adding my fish to dt.

I would not cycle with fish. High likely hood you're going to kill em and if not the stress is not good and they are weakened and prone to disease. Which sounds like didn't qt then first so odds aren't in your favor.

Lots of ways to cycle without fish. Ammonia. Bacteria supplements. Fish food or shrimp from store

How big is your tank and did you use any established rock? On my 90G I used a few pounds of established rock from my other reef and I had no nitrogen cycle. The behavior you’re seeing is just how clownfish are. They don’t swim much, just kind of stay in one area and every so often venture out.

Used live sand for the week, added live rock (14lbs) 4 days ago - from the same store I bought the fish and tank from

Actually I think I have gotten a sick fish... seeing a decent amount of white spots on 1 side of 1 fish.
Mouth always going , and 1 fin floating around while the other is moving fine.

The OTHER fish that I was actually worried about is fine.

I need more patience for this haha.

Ich? He/she had a spot on that side yesterday - but stupidly I didn’t think anything of it. Until today.

Looks like I’m going fishless for 76

Yeah that doesn’t look too good. Not ich, the spots are too big. Ich are the size of salt sprinkles. That looks like flukes to me. Now is a good time to learn the importance of quarantine for future purchases. Imagine having a tank with thousands of dollars of fish, then one sick one gets in and gets them all sick and they all die. Would suck, right?
