So after everything looked cycled and after a mini cycle I added a tiny clown to my 15gal and 2 cerith snails. The clown seems fine and readily eats. However he missed some mysis and my ammonia has gone to .25 , nitrite to 1.0 and nitrates to 10. Should I do a water change or just let it run it's course?

.25 or .025?
Adding a fish imposes a temporary bioload which soon drops back to normal. You can if you wish add some denitrifying bacteria such as MicroBacter 7 or XLM which will build bacteria culture

I've added a bit more Fritz 9 on top of the Turbo start I initially used. According to my api ammonia scale I'm at the one below 0. It says 0.25

Let it run that's going to be normal for a new tank, also along with that size.
It will go down in a day or 2.
Ok thanks. I'll just keep an eye on it and make sure its moving in the right direction. I've got my skimmer going now as well. The clown seems normal and has calmed down from establishing dominance on his reflection. As long as he doesn't seemed stressed I guess neither will I. Appreciate all you guys advice.

I would switch over to a better test kit soon. Api is not the best but it's okay for the beginning stages. I used to use api.

API measures total ammonia. Free ammonia is the bad kind (ammonium is the other part). 0.25 on an API ammonia test can be considered 0 free ammonia. You're fine :)

That's what every one of the 4 lfs I go to use. So much so they are hard to find. I had Seachem for ph/alk and nitrite/nitrate but replaced with Salifert ph/alk and API for n/n. The Seachem sliding scale don't work with my eyes.

Well that's good to know. Thanks for that tidbit.

My ammonia is staying gone, haven't lost a snail or a hermit. Clown is active and feeding. My nitrites are hanging around 1.0 and nitrates about 20. Cleanup crew doing its job. The levels above have been steady for days now so I guess this is where it will sit. Going to do a water change this weekend. 3 gal. May get a zoa frag and see how it reacts to my tank.

Do not bother testing nitrites.

Yeah I been scouring the pages on here on the effects of nitrite in a reef tank. And my levels are within reason. 1/3 of the water w/c every weekend and I should be ok from here on out. I'm going to add some pods and it'll start seasoning in.
