Added citric acid to reef tank?

Would adding citric acid to your tank kill it? I’m currently going through a tank crash and wondering if I left some citric acid in a pump would it contribute to the RTN I’m having.

Some pumps have a back that snaps on to cover the epoxy. I had the pump running in citric acid for about an hour. I never removed the rear cover. Though that it may have been filled up and slowly leached back into tank.

Thoughts?

Depending on the concentration of any possible residue or left over citric acid solution, it could potentially crash your tank by causing a PH imbalance.

What are your current water parameters?

Concentration would be BRS solution for cleaning
3/4 cup per gallon
