Added a skimmer and now some of my coral that was flourishing are now closed up

How long ago was the skimmer added... because especially if you have only been skimming for a few days, I think we'd first have to rule out "coincidence"...

I see. So especially given that your skimmer is likely in the ‘still breaking in’ stage, I’m not so sure that a ‘sucking out all the beneficial nutrients’ theory is truly to blame. Let’s see what some other people think. Best wishes!
