I currently have a yellow and plan to add another. I plan on adding it together with a purple which is in qt. The new yellow will be bigger..... anyone have success with this?

I did. I had one and added a smaller tang which ended up dying in QT after the fighting. I bought a larger tang and put it in. There were some flings but now the smaller bully is like his sidekick. No more fighting

Awesome thank you

I added a purple to an established yellow tang. The yellow beat the crap out of him and had to put the purple in my other tank. From what i understand, its a 50/50 shot.

I've had my purple with the yellow with no issues....the purple has been taken out for treatment.....when I had a sailfin he was the worst

I have seen it work, but also seen it fail miserably. It is a risk, but adding a couple of tangs should help.

Could I add a yellow tang and a Blue powder tang to a 120 gallon? If I can would I be better off trying to add them together or separate. QT tank is a established 28 gallon AIO.

While adding multiple at the same time helps. Keeping multiple in a 28g together can be disastrous. I recommend adding the yellow first, then the powder blue, but getting a large social acclimation box to introduce the new fish to the established one.

Tank is a 40b. If I add them together I should be ok....

youre joking, right!? not to be the "tang police", but a 40B is hardly big enough for one YT, let alone 2 YT and the purple. Most "requirements" for tangs list at minimum 100G.

You really need to think about the health and welfare of your animals, before your desire for a specific fish. that many tangs in a 40B is asking for trouble. Honestly, one is too many IMO.

Lol I am :) its a 180.

I decided against doing this anyway as I just added a hippo today and it's gonna get too crowded with another yellow.
