Adding a 40 gallon sump

Hi reefers!

I'm planning on adding a 40G sump to my 46G bowfront reef mixed tank. Can i just combine 40 gallons of newly mixed salt water with my 46g? or do i have to somewhat cycle the 40 gallon sump first?

No need to cycle the water. Just add it to the sump and off you go.
