Hi All. I am bout to add a 500 Gallon. I currently have a (2) 30 gallons, a 55 Gallon, 60 Gallon, 38 Gallon, and a 120 (long) Gallon tanks. Need some input, below is what I have in each tank and my plan of action in removing fish from and coral from existing tanks into 500 Gallon.

120 G - 6 clowns, 1 damsel, 2 Dart fish, 4 Bengai, 1 yellow clown goby, 1 6-line, 7 Tangs (Blue Hippo, Yellow, Kole, Orange shoulder, Naso, Chevron, Purple. A lot of coral.
60 G - 2 Cinnamons, 1 large engineer goby, choc chip star
54 G - 2 clowns, 1 Bengai, 3 PJs, 1 flame angel
30 G - 6 clowns, 3 pink skumk, 1 rainford goby
30 G - Purple firefish, red head salon, 3 urchis, 1 rainbow bubbletip.

Plan of action:
Jan 5 start cycling 500 G, using liquid ammonia
Jan 19-30 - If cycle has occurred add all clowns (move cinnamon's to 54 G, and move all existing fish from 55 into 120 (cinnamon's I have are very aggressive).
Jan 24- Feb 7 - Pending tank cycle, move All fish minus tangs wrasse and goby from 120 G into 500 Gal, move all fish from 30 Gal into 500 G. Add Bubble tip also
Feb 1 - Feb 14 - Add the engineer goby into the 500 G, add all remaining fish from 120 G minus tangs into 500 G, move all fish from 30s into 500 Gal including urchins.
End of Feb or early March add all remaining fish into the 500 Gallon and move the 2 cinnamon's into the 120 G.
I figure move all of my coral from the 120 into the 500 in April or May.

Thoughts?

Making the chocolate chip star a sump critter?

What bio filter material do you use in the current tanks? Assuming it’s live rock, I see no reason to go through the protracted process of cycling the new tank. Just make yourself 250 gallons of new water and move everything over.

I didn’t think about that. But now that you said that I think I should. I was going to make my existing 120 into a non reef tank.

I wanted to do this but in my existing 120I have what looks like black sponge growing. So I wasn’t going to use any of the live rock that I have in it. I’ve also decided to use new rock and have cemented into large pieces to aquascapr.
