Adding A Chalk Bass To A Tank With A Dottyback?

I have a springeri dottyback established in a 40 gallon. He's not a big dick. Only aggression I've seen from him was towards a Christmas wrasse the same size as him and that ended a few days after the wrasse had been added. Local store just got a chalk bass in stock and I'm itching to buy it.

Anybody think there would be a problem?

Thanks! how big was the tank and did you have a lot of rockwork?

red sea reefer 170 (34 gallon) Lots of rock work. Individual fish will act differently though.

I don't think it's a good idea. Springeri dottybacks are more aggressive than orchids.

Yes they can be.

I had to remove my Dottyback (a splendid in my case) in order to keep chalks. They're quite shy, particularly when new and/or small.

**Older thread** In my working towards my stocking list I have an orchid dottyback (P. fridmani) and he has been the most aggressive to date. He does bother the chalk bass if it head over to his "side" of the tank. I added 3 dwarf angels last night just before lights went off. I expected the dotty back to do a little chasing. As I watched it did not do anything they even went in it's "territory". I can watch the activity when I get home today from work. However, I did ask my daughter if she has seen any "dead" fish. "No dead fish", so this is a good sign

I only have a couple more fish to add but I am thinking next time this will be done on a Friday night so I have a chance to observe for a day or two.
