Adding a Freshwater Forum to R2R?

Adding freshwater to already cluttered forum will make it that much worse, as no one is paying attention to where they post, and staff arent moving threads to proper locations.

I have nothing against freshwater forum, but do it as a completely separate entity, with it's own webpage and so on.

If we separate it completely it could become less cluttered...

OK so now ya got me thinin. I have not raised killifish in years but have had that idea pop into my head a few times, looking at empty tanks in the garage.
Is there a freshwater forum similar to this?
I quickly, duck ducked , fresh water fish forums and Fishlore comes up. seems have some pretty good stuff at first glance.
Would be nice to have a parallel universe, with as much info as here, for fresh water. I'm not sure the level of the overall base would be as high as here. Pictures of Budda's and Sunken Ships, Beta Bowls, ect ....come to mind.

I think if it happened it would have to be a totally different forum. When you would type reef2reef.com you would have to be directed to a page to select which forum you wanted to go to. Either R2R or Pond2Tank. If not I think that there could be a lot of people posting in the wrong place and make the current forum cluttered.

Maybe change the name to something that involves both like reef&pond or as soon as you enter the site it is separated

One more point, and this one I really want to stress I have no intention of offending. If I just came to Reef2Reef and it became Reef&Pond my first thought would be this is just a cash grab. Yes I know it's a business, I understand / respect that it is, and there potentially is a good chance of increasing revenue, but it also could drive some people away.

There are a lot of good reasons why this forum flourishes while others bite the dust. It's far too late for this, but this might have been a good idea for reef central once it fell behind R2R and struggled to stay relevant, despite having an archive of information that far exceeds here.

I voted freshwater, the more knowledge the better! I plan to someday get back into freshwater (in addition to saltwater), and would expect overlap between the two.

After reading other's responses, we really would be doing freshwater keepers a favor by expanding this awesome platform

The overarching theme of this site however is reefkeeping. Perhaps the additional forum should be focused towards reefkeepers that also have freshwater, and sharing information on managing both together.

BTW, I think the idea is just to have a single forum, like a FW build section, or small section at most?
Not turning R2R into a Reef AND Fresh forum. R2R will remain a Reef-Focused forum.
Staff please correct me if I'm wrong.

That would work too but we would also need somewhere where we can ask questions

I edited while you were replying.

I personally didn't see the idea as turning R2R into a dual purpose forum at this time, just adding a space where those with both types of tanks could shoot the bull about FW if they wished.
I'm a member of plantedtank.net and ukaps.org for the tough FW questions but like sharing with my reef buds here since R2R is still my main home.

Voted no cause freshwater itself has too many different varieties itself from planted, SA/CA Cichlids, African Cichlids, Discus, regular tropical, Goldfish, Koi, plecos, the list goes on and on... There's already sites specialized in those categories so the info here would be limited I feel.

Yes. This is the idea. We're not looking at going to a split of R2R or anything like that. This would simply be to add a place for FW discussion separate from SW. I think most of the participants would be R2R members already who just also would like a place to talk about their FW tanks too.

Yes sort of like that. Maybe like a build thread place and a normal discussion?
