I’m relatively new to the hobby and could use some advice. A local reefer is breaking down his setup and looking to re-home his full-grown snowflake eel. I was already kinda interested in getting one, but was unaware how big they get - this one is definitely in the max 24+ inch range

I’ve got a 75 g (currently) fish only tank that’s about a year and a half old – current inhabitants: (2) clowns, (1) one-spot fox face, (1) 6 line wrasse,(1) orchid dottyback, (1) blue-spot Fiji puffer and (1) blue damsel fish.

He’s assured me my tank is plenty big and that the he’ll be a model citizen as long as he’s well fed – Anyone with experience care to weigh in?

Snowflakes are pretty chill. Like he said, keep it well fed with vitamin soaked food. Also, you’ll never be able to keep lobsters, shrimp or crabs in your system.

He wont hurt any of those fish. The worst thing about adding that big of an eel in with what you have is that they eat (and crap) a lot. You are going to have to monitor your chemistry and keep on the water changes pretty tightly.

This is exactly how you here of snowflakes eating fish. To put a full grown snowflake in a tank that size with fish like a sixline, dottyback, damsel, and clowns if they are occelaris.; you are asking for a potentially bad end. A 75g is fine for a lightly stocked tank with larger, fuller bodied fish; not to introduce a fully mature eel with smaller fish.
