I have an existing clown in my 75 Gal tank. He has been alone since I bought him. I have about 7 other fish all peaceful and an BTA that he ignores 100%.

If I add another clown will they kill each other? Is there any science as to how to pick a clown my clown will not kill?

I have 2 Red Fin Fairy Wrass, 3 Pajama Cardinals, Tail spot blenny, yellow watchman goby and some shrimp.

I would love a pair of clowns but I have heard they might kill each other

What type of clownfish do you have? How long have you had the fish?

He started in My Nano about 1 year ago now he is in my 75. I think he is a naked clown?

Nice fish! Part of the mystery and magic of clownfish is that they are wired for hierarchy which includes dominance and often aggression). My suggestion is that you add a small juvenile ocellaris clownfish. You can expect some aggression, but I would leave them together while they establish their roles and relationship unless you see a notable wound or are concerned for the life of one the fish. Good luck!

i have been nervous to pull the trigger on it because my tank is pretty peaceful but would love a pair.

get another ocellaris to go with the current one. A percula will also usually pair with an ocellaris. I’d look for a small juvenile for the best chance of success.
