I had a pair of Ocellaris clown fish. The larger one (presumably female) died. The smaller one has been in the tank, alone, for 3 weeks and I'm going to get him (or her!) a companion. I'm wondering how long it takes for a fish to transition to becoming female. Is it likely that mine has started the transition? Id so, should I be careful to introduce a smaller (presumably male) clown?

Clowns will usually transition into a different sex under a stressful situation or after a juvenile becomes an adult. I would get a smaller clown than the one you currently have and see how it plays out. No aggression, then you got the genders right.
