I want to add a ph probe my MTC calcium reactor but I don't want to drill the lid. I was thinking of cutting the elbow adding a T and placing a probe holder on the top of the tee. Pardon the crude picture but this may explain my idea. Any suggestions or comments.

Thanks Dan

I installed mine in a T much like you are describing on my MRC-6 reactor. I put a T on the outlet side of the pump and have the probe oriented sticking out horizontally like the green tubing you have. I used the probe adapter from BRS and have not had any issues but I wish I had mounted the probe up higher like you are showing. The only downfall I see with my setup is I have to drain more than half of my large chamber to remove the probe to calibrate but it has not been an issue yet.

Thanks I was wondering about the depth for the probe so that was very helpful to hear.

Drilling the lid on this unit isn't really possible because of the way the circulation system works. As you know from RC, I added a pH probe by putting in a clear PVC tee and a compression probe holder. Works like a charm.

Def going to attempt this thanks

Do you have a link or picture so I can see? I just bought a used and am planning on adding a probe holder

Can I link to RC? Just google MTC ProCal. I have mostly given up on photobucket, but I will try to find it.

Here's how I did mine

Bump! @billwill is that just a regular slip tee (white)? Where did you get the black piece that the probe connects into?

Slip/slip/fps tee, with a threaded ph probe holder from brs. The probe holders are available from many places, but my advice is not to skimp on it. My last reactor probe holder was cheapo and would have trouble sealing

I ordered the Avast one for $3.99 it has great reviews so hopefully it works well! Thanks for the info, pretty happy actually to not be drilling.

Question on the t.

If I insert the T as illustrated then add street elbow on the t going up and run clear pvc to be able to completely submerge the ph probe (with compression. Do you think this would create any flow issues ?
Also if I a ball valve Would that alleviate the need to drain the reactor half way to calibrate. ?

I did this and it works very nice I have no problem and it’s connected to the apex
