hello guys, a guy is braking down his tank and is selling all his stuff, among that a beautiful powder brown that he has owned for 2 years. If i buy him do i need to quarantine him, the owner said he’s never had ich, but idk. My tank is a 105 with plenty of caves and arches. Thank you

Even if it comes from an stablished tank?
I don't know what is in their tank and I would not be convinced that they fully know what is in their tank. I would rather spend the $30-50ish to buy a small tank, filter, heater, and possibly meds just to be safe. Can save a ton of head ache and money down the line.

This is a judgment call. I usually would forego any qt for fish that have been in captivity for 2 years, theyre healthy enough and isn't being stressed going from the ocean to multiple holding facilities before getting to you.

However if you've gone through great lengths to prevent ich into your tank, then you might want to set up at least an observation tank.

If you go against the QT setup make sure you drip acclimate and test parameters before of your tank and his tank and get them spot on before adding him for the best chance of avoiding ich
