I have a 60g cube that’s been running for over a year and a half. I’m looking to add a shelf on the back by my overflow. Is it save to do so if I drain the tank up to the point I want to place the shelf and then silicone the shelf in place? I thought about getting the shelf that uses magnets but with the plumbing behind it there is no way I could get it to work.

Is the place you plan to add the shelve acrylic or glass? Silicone wont stick to acrylic

It was the plastic on the back but it didn’t work. I was going to try magnets but got lazy and just bought one already made.
