Adding a shrimp & goby pair to a tank with another shrimp?

Hi, i had a 20G tank and a shrimp and goby pair, but the goby recently jumped after moving tank and not having a lid My LFS dont sell shrimp goby on its own. Do you think i can add another pair or one shrimp would get killed? Theres only one big tunnel in my tank so likely they will encounter. My shrimp isnt really shy and would come out to feed alone so is it better off leaving it alone? Thanks

Surely you can find another store somewhere to sell you just the goby….just about every store that sells any kind of saltwater fish will usually have one, including big box

thats unfortunately not the case in AU. shrimp and shrimp goby are both pretty rare, so to maximise profit, they normally sell them in pairs

Once you fix your lid, getting another goby alone is the best bet. The shrimp dig their own tunnels, but in a tank that size, they'll encounter each other and fight. If you can't get a single goby, the shrimp will be OK on its own.

i have shuffled things up and put the the lid back on. getting a silo goby is very hard here but if the shrimp would do just fine, ill just wait to see if theres any become available

Hey, you may get lucky. They might pair up like mine did. I have a pair that were put in a 75 gallon one at each end with two gobies. But after the first day i never saw the one on the right ever. I thought it died. After about 2 weeks i was surprised to see both of the shrimp together paired up with one goby. They obviously were male & female. I can say one thing. One of them is much bigger than the other. Maybe you can look for a smaller one than the one you have and maybe itll turn out to be a female. But its still a chance youre taking. Heres a photo of my pair. Sorry my pics arent the best.

Thanks thats so cool but my shrimp has been doing just fine so far. i think ill it alone for now and continue searching to a goby on its own cuz my tank is much smaller than yours

Pistol shrimp can pair with other pistol shrimp if you can get opposite sex, but Idk how to reliably check them and if you get it wrong they likely will have a territorial fight. Same for goby+goby. You in theory could have 2 gobies + 2 pistols paired in the same den but its really hard to accurately do.

You can order singular gobies almost anywhere. Either ask an LFS to special order one in on its own, or check some online retailers.
