So I picked up a 525 with v1 sump to move up a little from current 425. Going to add RS ReeefMat to it and removing the filter sock section now. I have a couple of questions though.

1. Why keep the sump overflow inlet section? Seems if I have the the fleece roller directly plumbed this area would just be a waste trying to keep at level to put anything in just from the emergency over flow being the only thing feeding it so would it not make more since just to remove it as well?

2. While I am at it was wanting to remove 2 panels between skimmer section and return chamber and add adjustable height baffle. I see makers like Fiji cube that make ones for 20 and 40 breeder but not for my size sump (19 1/4). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well emergency would still come out in back right corner but main drain will be plumber to Fleece Roller up front. Is there any downside to having one big open area and then just return chamber in the sump? Do not need a fuge section as have a ATS on a stand in the return chamber.
