Adding anemone

This is the aftermath. Just be cautious man.

That sucks. I guess anemones put out a lot more bioload than I expected

What do you mean BTA are not natural hosts? That's interesting I've never heard that before. Then which anemones are suitable for clowns?

Each clown species are found in the wild in certain species of anemone, BTA's I know off the cuff ARE natural to maroons, I'd have to look up what others, but they are NOT natural to ocellaris or percula.
This is why we see so many posts asking why their clowns do not go into their BTA, or often it may take a very long time for them to accept it, months, year, yet when those very same occs or percs are given something like a magnifica, often those same clowns, that refused BTA, will swim straight into that mag, as it is a natural host match anemone.
This is what we have been seeing for some time now for those of us that frequent the clown/anemone forums specifically.

Actually an anemone should not really increase bioload, not unless you fed it excessively, which you do not need to do, or at all really.

They can however release toxins should they die, that's something different

+1 for this

That chart is cool, and good on that poster for putting time in, but I recall there were some inaccuracies.
The best list/chart I've seen that seems to have the most up to date and factual info is the book by Fautin and Allen, "Anemone fishes and their host sea anemone's"
That's been my go to.

It's cool that they have nems listed alphabetically and you can go right to it and see region collected, and what it hosts in the wild, including some damsels(clowns are in damsel family, but some damsels that are not clowns will take to nems too)

I say wait. I have be done it all. I was right where you were and didn’t. The tank has to establish. So the parameters won’t swing on you. Anemones are very sensational to salinity and if your no watching and the your water evaporates to much and your salt level rise you can wipe out that anemone in 3 days. I waited in my other tanks and have had great success. Condys are cheap and some are pretty. Long tentacles can get big. Bubble tips are great. Some clowns host and some don’t. My black ice clowns hate any anemonie. But my regular occilarus love them. They even host in my meat corals. Go slow and remember that anemones can nuke your whole tank if your not careful. My current passion is for the rock flowers and a 12 in carpet anemone that I added 3 months ago.

To give you an example. This is my tank after about 17 months. Added the carpet anemone in the middle at about 16. 1 month later cyano took hold, then hair algae. Hair algae completely took over and killed everything. All this was caused by adding the carpet anemone. Even a very stable tank can take crazy swings, let alone a 3 month old tank. On the bright side the one thing that survived was my carpet anemone.

Nice coraline on the tank looks awesome...... I guess Im one of the luckies ones as I add my first anemone when my tank was practically almost new and my anemone survive for a long time however it die because of other reasons but being in a new tank, of course I cycle my tank with live sand and live rock and bacterias to speed up the process, but it won't harm to wait a little longer.. Good Luck!

I wouldn’t say it’s a rule ... more the general consensus. You stand more of a chance of keeping a healthier anamone in a more mature tank .. Lighting is also important ... as anamones need a lot of light generally.what lights are going on this tank ..?

It’s a 20 long and I will be putting on 2 ai primes
