I have a single Clownfish, I'm not sure if it a percula or Ocellaris. I've had it for several years now and would like to introduce another smaller clownfish in with it.

Can I add a small "designer" percula/ocellaris into the tank? Will it matter that the color patterns are different?

Won't matter. When putting two clowns together I always like to introduce either a larger one or smaller one. helps with establishing dominance/sex.

The clown you currently have is a female if the clown has been the only clown in the tank for a number of months.
You're looking for a clown that is not sexually mature, or a young male. Try to choose a smaller clown, preferably one housed in a tank with other young clowns. The color or pattern of the designer clown will have little significance.
Introduce with lights off is able.

The only clowns I know that have issues introducing new clowns to are maroons and tomatoes they are super aggressive toward other clowns as long as you don't have one of those you'll be good
