What are my options for adding a second clown? I made the mistake of not knowing about how maroon clowns are when I got my first clown a month ago. Tank has 4 fish in it, a maroon clown, coral beauty, lawnmower blenny and a strawberry dottyback. When I got the clown the dotty was in the same tank with it so I got them together. Everything in the tank gets along great. I want to add another clown but have been told mixed things about adding another maroon. My clown is about 1.5in. Is it possible to add another one?

Its a total Crap Shoot. They may get along and may not. Maroons are aggressive so it may be a death battle. I would just stick with the one but if you add another I would find one that is a little larger. By the way how big is the tank

Thanks, yea thats the feeling im getting. Tank is a 75gal.

I did it recently with a not paired of standard maroons. It worked out but I was ready to remove the smaller male, ASAP. It's a crapshoot. You do better with a mated pair, but it can work. I'm about 50/50 over then past 20+ years with paring maroons (standard and lightning), cinnamon and tomato clowns. Best luck have been with 'maters to spawn, but I've had luck with a previous pair of lightning maroons to spawn also.

I had luck getting a second maroon that was much smaller than the one I had. I placed him in a breeder box for a week first to see how they would get along. They have been fine ever since

Not to steal your thunder but I got this bonded pair of lightnings yesterday . The male is a little shy but the female is pretty bold. They are hard to photograph together.
