Hi Aquaforest,

I remember there was a posted literature in the past regarding the addition Bio S to the reef salt mix. I do not recall the amount to add and what the purpose of it pertains to. Can you elaborate on this process please and per gallon portions to add if I went with this method.

Thanks

I think this likely referred to new tanks being established, since Bio S is only used for that, and post water changes, also post new fish arrivals and deaths. I do not recall having heard of it being dosed to newly made salt water though. If your tank is established and you want to convert to the Probiotic method, you would begin 1/2 dose of Pro Bio S and NP Pro, you can then increase as your tank as you gain more comfort and depending on nutrient levels. Please provide more detailed information :) Cheers!

Thanks Perry. I think you are correct! My tank is a 180g reef with relatively small (frags/mini colonies) corals since I had a system crash a few months back. I plan on using their reef salt in combination with pro bio s and NP pro to start. Eventually, I will use build, energy, vitality and aminos as well. One hesitation I have is my system had dinos in the past. I am not sure how the added nutrients will affect the system as a whole.

Dinos are usually associated to silicates, I think the addition of Phos Minus will really help to control silicates and phosphates as well. Like with anything new, take it slow, and start with 1/2 doses of any of the AF products. Observation is key :) Cheers!
