New guy to R2R thanks. Been reefing for about 5 years now. Currently have a 240g 7ft long set up and have a long tentacle set up on the right side for over a year and had 2 lightning maroons hosting it. Recently just added a rbta to the left side of the tank and both the clowns migrated over to it and abandoned the lta. Would it be safe for me to add a pair of clowns for the lta? I know I have no control over where they go but what are the chances of them doing what I want? And not fighting with the clowns I already have.

In that size tank you will be fine adding 2 more clowns.

They will have a territorial dispute no doubt but with that much room the 2 new "should" find their space pretty easy.

What other fish do you have that may be a concern?

Funny because we dealt with this very issue last night.

We have a large female on the far right of an 8’ long tank that’s hosted by a HUGE BTA and two other BTAs toward the center.

We also have a medium (m/f?)clown and two tiny clowns that are hosted on the far left by a LTA.

All have been in the tank for many months with no issue whatsoever

Although well aware of their presence, the large female just tolerated the other clowns, but had very little interaction with them.

Last night we removed the LTA and replaced it with another BTA for the three clowns.

Guess what?

The female is now obsessed with the new BTA (as well as the others that are already claimed by her) and has a death wish for the medium clown.

We had to remove the medium clown last night otherwise I’m sure it would have been killed.

I don't think any of the other fish should pose a problem with adding the clowns.

How big is your tank?

Clowns are damsels and are very aggressive for sure. Especially females....when they find a egg laying spot oh boy watch out!
