I’m going to scrape off some of the coraline that grows really well in my established tank into my new one. How does everybody do that? I’ve heard people say they crush it. Or do I just throw it in the tank? Does it matter? I used some live rock and maybe 2/3 dry so I know it’ll eventually grow. But I figured adding some could only help speed up the process. Thank you!!

Add a coralline covered rock from the old tank. Or, you can also just scrape some off a rock, break it up, mix it with some salt water and pour into your new tank.

Ok. I was planning to scrape the tons I have on the back glass. So I’ll crush it in some saltwater and just pour it in. Makes sense. Thanks. I threw in some hermits that were walking coraline factories too. Just wasn’t sure if there was anything special people did to scraped off flakes. Appreciate the response.

You're already well on your way as the tank is seeded by the shells. Scraping will speed things up a bit in the beginning but the coraline will grow as it sees fit. IMO, scraping allows lots of pieces to land in a variety of areas with different light, flow, etc. It will eventually do it's thing either way. I love coraline and it covers everything except my front glass. :)

like monkey said if you grind it up to dust, scoop a cup of water from your tank, mix it up, then pour it in a high flow area like in front of a power head that will help spread it everywhere
