I have an only CUC QT. Right now there's just 1 fighting conch that's been in there for 2 weeks. If i add snails/hermits do I need to restart the QT cycle for the conch? Only observational quarantine going on right now

The answer that you will probably get is, "yes" but if you think about it I don't think you would. The reason to QT snails and other inverts is because Ich or Velvet cysts containing the tomonts could be attached to the shell. When the cyst ruptures and releases all the dinospores, they have a certain amount of time to find a host and continue the cycle or die. Either way, at this stage the dinospores are free swimming and trying to find a fish host and will not re attach to the snails. Therefore, as long as the snail is in QT the entire 76 days then it should not contain any unruptured cysts.

But to make it easier...I always stick to adding all my inverts at the same time and keeping them all for the full 76 days.

You are correct that the answer is "no". As long as there are no fish in there you just need to keep track of when you put each invert in there. The only reason you would have to restart the clock after adding an invert is if you are doing something like adding them to a fallow display tank.

cool! looks like my conch will go into the DT 2 weeks earlier than the new guys!

Inverts and corals should be quarantined for the 76 days due to ich cysts. Its pointless to QT something if you arent following through with it completely. Youll never see the ich either until you put it in your DT with fish before 76 days. The clock should always be restarted if adding another unquaratined specimen housed in the same tank, period.

You are right about the 76 days, but wrong about restarting the clock. Marco explained why in their post up above. Remember, the QT is a fishless system. Saying you have to restart the clock is like saying the only way to kill an ant is by using a 20 lb sledgehammer. It's not needed to get the job done.
