My LFS recommended that i add dr tims one and only to lower nitrites along with water changes. My question is. Is it ok to run the filter after iv’e added it? I did shut off the skimmer. I believe my cycle restarted! Trying to get back on track. I have 6 fish in the tank currently. Any advice on how to lower nitrites would be appreciated!

Do not react to nitrite at all

skip the test permanently in reefing. Solved. No testers we have work reliably, it can’t be tested accurately. When there is some, it doesn’t matter.

nitrite is neutral in reefing it only matters in freshwater and brackish tanks. to read why, search article Randy Holmes Farley nitrite in the reef tank.

toss out the test and don’t own it. If your test says you have nitrite, thats a direct indication you do not have any concern. Your lfs is ripping you off but it’s unintentional
most people in forums would agree with them, buy more bottle bac.

You posted you had living fish vs dead ones, cycle solved depending on who you ask. (Uncycled marine tanks kill all your fish in one day)

we can assume it’s been set up longer than yesterday right?

Cycles cannot stick or undo. Post your tank history and pics here below for full review. Your fish-in cycle is working out like they all do, normal acting fish and a tester indicating abnormality.

no cycle in reefing stalls, it isnt possible unless there isn’t any rocks and sand and it’s fish in bare glass and water. Your fish would be dead quickly if your cycle wasn’t ready, most bottle bac fully transfers onto surfaces in five days, how old is your tank
